The Canberra-based ASTA Secretariat has a staff of six. The Chief Executive Officer, Senior Projects Officer, Communication and Events Manager, Publications Manager, Office Manager and Digital Projects Officer. The Secretariat administers and manages all major initiatives and programs, as directed by its Executive and Council, from an annual budget exceeding $700,000.
VIC DOBOS, Chief Executive Officer, began in the position of CEO in January 2013. Vic has a background in teaching, geology and organisation management and strategy.
DELESE BREWSTER, Senior Projects Officer, has been with ASTA since 2005. Her duties are varied and include managing several projects for ASTA and partner organisations, the production of the National Science Week Resource book and the coordination of the National Science Week State Representatives.
LOUISE MONGE was appointed Communication and Events Manager in September 2015. Louise has a background in communication, having worked across multiple sectors, and previous experience working at ASTA (from 2003-2009) as the Publications Manager. She is responsible for managing ASTA's events and developing communication strategies for many of ASTAs projects.
KAL STARKIS is the Publications Coordinator. He designs ASTA publications and resources including the quarterly journal, Teaching Science.
MICHELLE LOLLBACK is the Office Manager, she is your first point of contact when ringing the ASTA office. Michelle is also the office coordinator for SPECTRA and TESEP and can answer any questions you may have. Michelle has been at ASTA since 2010.
PHILLIP BERRIE was appointed as ASTA's Digital Projects Officer in March 2014. Phill has a long background in education support having worked as a lab tech and IT support officer at ANU and University College, ADFA. He also has teaching qualifications and has taught as a Science teacher at high school level. Phill is also involved in the production of ASTA's quarterly journal Teaching Science providing proofreading and technical support.
