Employment at ASTA
Canberra-based role, in-house casual work.
The Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) is seeking the services of a casual graphic designer. The design involves the layout of a quarterly science educators journal called Teaching Science.
This publication is produced in InDesign CC. You will need experience working with text styles, table layout, master pages, photo editing, typesetting, and print production. Use of Photoshop CC for photo editing, and Illustrator CC to occasionally recreate figures for authors and design in-house ads. The journal is A4, full colour, approximately 48–62 pp. The journal is just venturing into electronic publication as well, so interactive PDF versions of the journal need to be produced.
The position is flexible, however, it is desirable that the successful applicant will work in the office of the ASTA secretariat during the design stage. It is estimated that the time required to complete the design of each edition of Teaching Science is in the order of approximately 30 hours. Journals are published in March, June, September and December.
