Japanese Science Teacher Exchange call for applications

ASTA, in collaboration with the Sony Education Foundation of Japan, will be taking a delegation of passionate science teachers to JAPAN in late September 2013. ASTA is offering 4 primary and secondary science teachers the opportunity to visit Tokyo as part of its annual exchange program with the Sony Science Teachers Association of Japan. Absorb the rich culture and improve your intercultural understanding and forge new professional connections to organisations and individuals.

Student Engagement – Opportunity to teach a Japanese class and observe Japanese teachers in action

Group Forums – Exchange ideas on science teaching and curriculum development 

Departing Australia: 28/09/2013.  Returning: 06/10/2013. Travel and accommodation cost: Approx $3200  (Tax deductible)

Applications are by expressions of interest via email to the ASTA CEO, Vic Dobos, at [email protected]. Please include:

  • Your name
  • Your school (primary or secondary)
  • An idea of what activity-based lesson you would like to conduct with a Japanese class and what year group you would prefer to teach. In Japan we usually have access to students from years 3 through to 9.
  • Any special requirements you would need to conduct your activity.
  • A brief rationale on why you would like to take part in this exchange.
