Why did Science ASSIST change websites?

Science Assist has moved to a new home within the ASTA (Australian Science Teachers Association) website to streamline access and improve the overall user experience. By bringing Science Assist under the main ASTA site, subscribers now benefit from a single login to manage their subscription, view past purchases and access premium content. The updated design and layout also make it easier to find and use resources, while ensuring everything stays aligned with ASTA’s commitment to supporting science educators.

Why do I have to log in to Science Assist through the ASTA website?

Science Assist is now integrated into the ASTA website to provide a simpler, more streamlined experience for users. By logging in through the ASTA website, you can access both your Science Assist subscription and your ASTA account with a single login. This allows you to manage your subscription, view past purchases and add teachers to your school’s access — all in one place. It’s part of our effort to improve functionality and make things easier for educators.

How do I subscribe?

To subscribe to Science Assist, simply visit the ASTA website and navigate to the Science Assist section. From there, you can choose the subscription option that best suits your needs — whether you’re an individual teacher or a school purchasing for multiple staff. Follow the prompts to create an account (if you don’t already have one), complete payment and gain immediate access to all premium Science Assist resources. You can pay online via our secure online portal or request an invoice. Upon successful payment, you will receive your access details via email. Subscriptions are valid for 12 months.

How much does a Science Assist subscription cost?

Science Assist offers annual subscriptions for individuals, schools or other organisations based in Australia or overseas. All fees are exclusive of GST.

Subscription Fees:
Individuals : $150
Australian Schools: $150
Australian Individuals & Non-School Organisations: $300
Overseas Subscribers: $400

Subscriptions are valid for 12 months. To subscribe, please complete the Science Assist Subscription Form and proceed with payment via our secure online portal or request an invoice. Upon successful payment, you will receive your access details via email.

How long does it take to get access after I subscribe?

If you pay online, access to Science Assist is immediate, so you can start using the resources right away. If you choose to pay by invoice, access is usually created within one or two business days after your payment has been received by ASTA.

How do I update contact information for our account?

To update the contact information for your Science Assist account, please email us at [email protected] or call us on +61 (02) 9346 9600. Our team will assist you with making the necessary changes promptly.

How do I add a new additional user to our account?

To add a new additional user to your Science Assist account:
Log in to your Science Assist account at www.asta.edu.au/assist
Go to My Account at the top of the webpage 
Click on ‘View account details’
Select Add Additional Users
Each user you added will be assigned their own login credentials. This allows additional team members to access the platform individually while remaining linked to your organisation’s account.
Each new additional user will need to verify their details via an email link sent to them before they will appear on your account profile under current users. 
*Please Note: You are only able to add or delete additional users if you are logged into your School or Organisations account as the owner.  Additional account users and Individual Subscriptions do not have this functionality. 

How do I delete an additional user from our account?

To delete an additional user from your Science Assist account:
Log in to your Science Assist account at www.asta.edu.au/assist
Go to My Account at the top of the webpage 
Select Add Additional Users
Click the Remove button next to the user you would like to delete
*Please Note: You are only able to add or delete additional users if you are logged into your School or Organisations account as the owner.  Additional account users and Individual Subscriptions do not have this functionality. 

How do I check what additional users are on a subscription account?

To check additional users on your Science Assist account:
Log in to your Science Assist account at www.asta.edu.au/assist
Go to “My Account” at the top of the webpage 
Select Add Additional Users
Current additional users will then appear on your profile.
Each new additional user will need to verify their details via an email link sent to them before they will then appear on your account profile under current users.

I have forgotten my password, how do I reset and create a new password?

If you have forgotten your password you can reset it and create a new one by following the steps below: 
Go to www.asta.edu.au/assist
Go to login to Science Assist
In the login box click on the Forgot Password link
Enter your user name or email address 
You will received an email with a link to reset your password
Once you have reset your password you will receive a confirmation email, you must click the link in this email to verify and complete this update.

How do I change my current password?

If you would like to reset or change your current password you can do this following the steps below: 

Log in to your Science Assist account at www.asta.edu.au/assist
Go to My Account at the top of the webpage 
Go to Change Password

*NOTE:  If you do not know your current password to log in then go to the FAQ on “ I have forgotten my password, how do I reset and create a new password.”

When do I get my renewal invoice for a subscription?

About ten months after your initial payment, we will send you a renewal invoice. This gives you two months to complete payment before your 12-month subscription expires.

How do I find a previous invoice or payment?

To find the most recent or a previous invoice: 

Log in to your Science Assist account at www.asta.edu.au/assist
Go to My Account at the top of the webpage 
Go to Payments 

You will then be able to see your previous subscription invoices and payments.

How do I check if a subscription is current?

To check if a subscription is current: 

Log in to your Science Assist account at www.asta.edu.au/assist
Go to My Account at the top of the webpage 
Go to  Subscriptions 

You will then be able to see if your subscription is active.

How do I check the expiry date of a subscription?

To check if a subscription is current or for your expiry date: 

Log in to your Science Assist account at www.asta.edu.au/assist
Go to My Account at the top of the webpage 
Go to Subscriptions 

You will then be able to see if your subscription is active and the expiry date

How do I pay for our subscription with a credit card?

You can pay for your Science Assist subscription securely online using a credit card through our website. Simply follow the subscription or renewal prompts, select the credit card payment option, and enter your details to complete the transaction.

How do I pay for our subscription without a credit card?

You can pay for your Science Assist subscription using a bank transfer. You can find these details on the bottom of your invoice. Ensure that you quote the invoice number in your transfer description.

For new subscriptions simply follow the subscription prompts, select the “I need and invoice to pay” option and submit. We will then email you an invoice for payment within one or two business days after your request has been received.

How do I add a Purchase Order Number to an Invoice?

To add a purchase order number to an invoice simply email the details to [email protected]

Can I ask a question if I do not have a subscription?

No, unfortunately the “ask a question” option is only available for our paid subscribers.

How long does it take to receive a response to a question?

You will receive a confirmation email within 2 business days, then depending on the research required by our Science Assist Advisors it may take up to 21 days to receive your final response.

Why can I no longer rate or comment on a question?

We have switched off the ability to rate or comment on a question. This is due to safety and legal reasons. If you do notice content on our page that is incorrect or have suggestions for improvement then please contact us at [email protected]

Why do some of the links in the resources PDF attachments no longer work or go to the old website?

Our website may contain links to external educational resources, research papers from academic partners and user-generated forum discussions. External materials may change without ASTA’s knowledge due to the evolving nature of educational standards and scientific research. ASTA makes every effort to review these materials regularly and is not liable for any modifications made after linking to the original content. 

Due to the amount of information transferred from the original Science Assist website to the new ASTA website there may be some resources that we are still yet to update. We will be working through these resources over the next few months to ensure all links direct to the ASTA website in the future.

Why can I no longer access a resource link that I save as a favorite from the old website?

From August 2025 our previous Science Assist website will be decommissioned. Any previous URL links that you have saved will no longer work after this date. All resources from the old website were transferred so you can use our search engine tool to find the resources on the new website.
