Professional Development Workshop Series in Earth and Environmental Science.

Earth-Expo 3-PD – attend 3-PD (with Casual Relief Funding) or 1-PD event, 

Part 1 – Rocks (the Rock Kit Teaching Pack & Plate Tectonics story), yr 4-9
Critical Minerals (renewable energy/electric car/batteries/recycling), yr 6-12
(physics/chemistry crossover)

Part 2 – Life, Fossils & the 5 Big Extinctions (integrated plate tectonics/climate events & flora-fauna extinctions)
yr 9-12


School: Echuca College, 20-50 Butcher St, Echuca Vic

Meeting Room: attendees to go to the front desk to be directed to Meeting Room

Date: Thursday 6 June 2024, PD Part 1 12:30-3:15pm and Part 2 3:30pm-5:30pm 

School Facilitator: Deborah Johnson (BYO lunch for Part 1, afternoon tea will be provided)

The RocksExpo experience includes– 

1. Incursions – classroom lessons with students and teachers.
2. PD workshops – After-school professional development workshops for teachers (Part 1 & 2, 3-PD @ $50 & Part 2, 1-PD @$25/attendee for visiting teachers, FREE to host-school teachers).
3. Certificate of attendance – A certificate of hours and workshop outcomes will be issued.
4. FREE rock kit – Host to receive a FREE rock kit and Plate Tectonics poster.
5. Introductory RocksExpo feature How to Use the Rock Kit and Teaching Pack (e.g. how to relate rock kit rocks to rock stories, 3D rendered samples, virtual thin sections and virtual outcrops).
6. Subsequent RocksExpo topics can be chosen from TESEP’s “The Challenging Earth” series 2

Presenters: Rod Boucher is an experienced central Vic educator/industry geologist with years of local geology and STEM/EES Science curriculum knowledge.
