ASTA iCubed Teacher Awards

The ASTA iCubed Teacher Awards recognise outstanding contributions made by classroom teachers to science education. Each state and territory Science Teachers Association may nominate two finalists in total – one nomination for each of the two judging categories. 

Finalists will be chosen for their excellence in teaching, their support of open-ended student investigations and their suitability to represent their state or territory. All finalists will receive a certificate of recognition. First prize in each category will also receive prize money.

Entry requirements

The ASTA iCubed Teacher Awards are open to Australian permanent residents who are primary or secondary teachers of science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM), currently teaching in the classroom (minimum teaching load 50%). Only one application per category per STA is permitted and the STA President must validate each entry.

Submissions must include the following supporting documentation:

• Teacher Professional Statement – A teacher declaration, showing acceptance of the nomination, support from the relevant supervisor and confirmation from an authorised STA representative
• A recent headshot photograph suitable for publication
• A signed Media Consent form, allowing ASTA to use finalist names and photos on our website and our social media.

Entries may only be submitted by the teacher’s nominating STA. Where the STA is entering on the Nominee’s behalf, please ensure that all completed supporting documents have been forwarded to the nominating STA for inclusion.
