About these terms

These Terms of Use apply to all users of the Science Assist website, including school teachers, science technicians and administrators. By accessing or using the website, you agree to comply with these terms.

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the latest version. If you do not agree, you must stop using the site.

Subscription and account use

If you hold a valid subscription:

• You must not share your username or password outside your school
• You must not distribute Science Assist resources outside your school unless clearly marked with a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence
• You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if your login credentials are compromised.

We use a rolling subscription model. Unless advised otherwise, we will assume you wish to renew your membership 12 months after the date of your original subscription.

Intellectual property

Resources developed after 1 July 2020

These are the property of the Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) and are protected by the Copyright Act 1968. You may download, use and share them within your school for educational purposes, provided you attribute Science Assist.

Resources developed before 1 July 2020

These are also ASTA’s property but are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence, unless marked otherwise.

This licence allows you to:

* Share  –copy and redistribute the material in any format

* Adapt – copy, remix and build upon it

* Use – copy for any purpose, including commercially

You must provide attribution as follows:

Excluded material

Some content is not covered by the CC BY licence. This includes:

* The Science Assist, ASTA and SETA logos

* Trademark-protected material

* Content from AS or AS/NZS standards publications

This content may not be reused without permission.

Liability and responsibility

Science Assist provides content in good faith to support Australian science education. While efforts are made to ensure information is accurate and up to date, we do not guarantee its completeness or suitability.

We accept no liability for:

* Any damage to individuals or property

* Use of outdated or incorrect information

* Any actions taken based on site content

Users are responsible for conducting risk assessments and applying appropriate safety precautions when using Science Assist materials.
