State-Run Student Science Competitions

Across Australia, state and territory Science Teachers Associations (STAs) coordinate annual student science competitions that inspire students to investigate, invent and explore STEM.

These competitions provide a valuable opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and scientific thinking through inquiry-based projects.

Many of these competitions are supported by Rowe Scientific Pty Ltd, which sponsors awards that aim to encourage participation from students of diverse backgrounds, with a particular focus on promoting STEM engagement among female students and those from low socio-economic areas.

The top student projects from each state and territory are selected to represent their region in the national ASTA iCubed Awards. These finalists highlight the best of science inquiry and innovation across the country, competing for recognition on a national stage.
